Roads & Transport

SHRA began as a group of residents resisting a major road scheme.  Since then, we have become involved in numerous issues where parking/CPZs and traffic flow affect residents.  In 2022, we decided to appoint a Committee member to take a particular interest in roads and transport.  In line with its environmental concerns, SHRA has been supportive of the 20mph limits and the concept of the 20-minute neighbourhood.  Our thinking on roads and transport prioritises the pedestrian, cyclist and user of public transport over the motorist.

The objectives of our roads and transport strategy are:

  • To identify transport problems and to improve the travelling environment for all.
  • To work with Network Rail, the operating company and residents to improve Strawberry Hill station.
  • To liaise with Ward councillors to tackle infrastructure problems and proposed changes.
  • To identify and address problems arising from increasingly diverse road and pavement use.

We welcome residents contacting us about road and transport issues (contact@shra.org.uk), but encourage them also to use the Council’s mechanisms for reporting issues such as pot holes.

We engage with the Council when proposals are made for changes to roads in the area.  In April 2023, we responded to the Strawberry Hill Traffic Study.
